Preventing panic attacks

Panic attacks can hit anyone regardless of their age or gender. They are arguably the worst thing that ever happens to a person, but it is important to understand that do not cause any tangible harm. A panic attack can be as short as a few seconds or may stretch to as long as up to an hour and is never a permanent condition. If person is a victim to regular panic attack, then it may be due to some other panic disorders. People who suffer from anxiety and depression or those who are patients of asthma and diabetes are more prone to panic attack. Also the intake of amphetamine and those who are rehabilitating from tranquilizers are also much more likely to fall prey to this severe disorder.

Doctors can advice and provide helpful tips on preventing panic attacks and how to stop the condition from getting worse. However, just following the doctor’s advice is not enough from stopping panic attacks. The patient must himself understand his own condition before starting to implement on the advice given by the doctor for protecting against anxiety attacks.

One of the primary symptoms of panic attacks is breathing fast. Other conditions that might accompany a panic attack include dizziness, increase in heartbeat and chest pain amongst other. A person may also experience sever sweating and a rapid change in the body temperature. Generally in a panic attack, the person feels as if he is about to die. This is because of the physical reaction caused by the adrenaline in the body. When adrenaline pumps around the body, the natural reaction is in the form of fear and hunger.

A good way of forbidding anxiety attacks is through breathing exercises that help keep you calm during the course of an attack. This would effectively reduce down the effect that the attack has on you. The most common one is breathing faster so that the CO2 is expelled out fast that would aid in lessening the effect of the attack.

Some other good ways of preventing anxiety episodes are reducing your stress levels, maintaining a good and healthy diet and doing some exercises regularly. One thing that should be avoided by those who suffer from this syndrome is caffeine and alcohol that tend to be a major cause of panic attacks. It is important to try learning breathing techniques that help a great deal in preventing panic attacks.
